We are currently looking for SMT Line Operators to join our team at our Markham, Ontario, CANADA location to handle all aspects of our in-house production facility. To join our growing team, please review the list of responsibilities and requirements listed below.

Responsibilities

• Use of component drying cabinets and reel storage and retrieval systems.
• Use of manual, semi-automatic or automatic solder paste stencil systems.
• Use of feeder carts, magazine dollies, material storage containers.
• Use of PCB conveyors, loaders, unloaders, stackers and de-stackers.
• Use of automatic pick-and-place machines.
• Use of automatic optical inspection (AOI) systems.
• Use of multi-zone reflow ovens.
• Use of PCB cleaning and drying equipment.
• Use of advanced soldering robots.
• Use of selective soldering systems.
• Scan parts, change feeders, splice reels to keep the SMT lines operating at high efficiency levels.
• Perform setup, operational, and product changeover tasks on SMT production lines.
• Monitor scrap rates and identify potential component waste and report these findings.
• Perform all work according to the latest safety protocols and procedures to maintain zero incident rates.
• Carry out quality inspections at each stage to ensure product is built per specifications and in compliance with industry standards.
• Inspect soldered boards to detect and eliminate soldering defects.
• Verify proper PCB identification throughout the manufacturing plant.
• Program label and barcode printers.
• Set conveyor width.
• Manage solder paste preparation.
• Regularly perform mistake proofing tasks.
• Troubleshoot various pieces of SMT assembly line equipment.
• Keep up to date on manufacturing instructions and guidelines issued by the engineering department.

Position Requirements

What Kind Of Candidate Is Suited For This Opportunity?

Ideal candidates will have proven, prior experience selling network hardware/accessories or network/management software. The perfect applicant for us is someone who has an existing network of technology resellers and telecom carriers. Familiarity with consultative selling definitely a plus. All candidates should have a good understanding of selling technology into telcos, VARs, large enterprise customers or government departments. Junior Hardware Developer

Junior Hardware Developer

Description

We are currently looking for a Junior Hardware Developer (JHD) to join our team at our Markham, Ontario, CANADA location. The Junior Hardware Developer’s role is to assist our engineering team in developing, testing, and supporting WAN/LAN based products such as gateways, switches, remote terminal units, IoT nodes, I/O interfaces and remote sensors. Additional responsibilities include working with support teams for customer assistance in troubleshooting field installations, as well as working on our compliance efforts to obtain regulatory approvals for EMC and other relevant standards. This position requires a highly motivated, independent individual. Prior experience in developing networking equipment is preferred. The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering; had exposure to developing hardware based networking products, and a good understanding of overall networking concepts.

Responsibilities

• Assist in circuit design.
• Assisting in PCB layout, production and validation.
• Development of mixed signal systems, engineering boards and test fixtures.
• Evaluate semiconductor devices, analog/RF circuits, biometric sensors and multi-core CPUs.
• Simulation and testing of prototype circuits.
• Perform device/board level diagnostics and testing.
• Analyze the performance of circuits, analog signal acquisition systems or sensors.
• Prioritize and schedule problems. Escalate problems (when required) to the appropriately experienced Optima personnel.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

• Undergraduate’s or Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience (2 or more years of experience as a Junior Hardware Developer).

Knowledge & Experience

• Knowledge of basic computer hardware.
• Experience with board level hardware development.
• Knowledge of LAN, WAN, cellular networking systems.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting networks, and data communications equipment.

We are currently looking for a Junior Software Developer (JSD) to join our team at our Markham, Ontario, CANADA location. The Junior Software Developer’s role is to develop software solutions to meet Optima’s specifications. Focus areas for this position include wireless gateways, LAN/WAN switches, IoT nodes, interface units and sensors. The candidate may also be tasked with test fixture development, production line software development and data collection validation. Together with the assistance of other Optima personnel, the JSE will also be asked to perform extensive hands-on verification, in-depth evaluation and stress-testing of new features and in all Optima developed software products.

Responsibilities

• Working with a team to develop, test, and maintain web and desktop-based business applications built on the latest web/IoT technologies.
• Assisting in the collection and documentation of user’s requirements, development of use cases, and estimates.
• Preparing reports, manuals and other documentation on the proper use, operation and maintenance of Optima’s software products.
